Bible Reading for April 12 (ONPP)
Luke 16 – 18, Psalms 87
Luke 16:9 – Whhaattt! Oh, I see better now. The mammon of unrighteousness is material gain that does not bring righteousness but can open the hearts of others to show your faithfulness to God even to the point that they may find your trust in Him appealing.
Jesus is telling His disciples to be as shrewd as those that use unrighteousness to assure a place in this world to guide your actions in regard to your eternal future. Use your money, your possessions, and your wealth even though it’s part of the unrighteous system. (John MacArthur)
Luke 16:16 – The dispensation of sacrifice ended when John began preaching of repentance. That is when the dispensation of grace became the path to redemption. It was always about believing God.
Luke 16:17 – Jehovah God does not change. Malachi 3:6
Luke 16:23 – If Hell is to destroy people then why is this rich man able to be in torment, able to see Abraham and talk to him? Hell is a place of eternal torment to the eternal soul, not made for man but for the devil and his angels.
Luke 16:31 – And Jesus is reviled by those others.
Luke 17:4 – This is more than seventy times seven. It’s like seven times three hundred sixty–five times seventy, eighty, ninety, or more years! How many sins will God have forgiven us?
Luke 17:7 – When your ministry in one area of service is over God will have another open and ready for you.
Luke 17:10 – Our works in this world are unprofitable to us for righteousness but are to be in following the dictates of Jehovah.
Luke 17:20 – When you are saved you will not notice the change in the mirror. The change is in the heart, to trust God and follow the scripture.
Luke 17:24 – This shows us how quickly that God can work. Not necessarily soon as people count time but in a moment without warning.
I Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly. Hold fast to that which you have, so that no one may take your crown.
Luke 17:27 – It doesn’t say that any of them were worshiping God.
Luke 17:34 – God discriminates and retrieves those that trust Him while leaving even their mate for the time of judgement.
Luke 18:1 – God hears the prayers of His children and gives them good things. What father would give his child a rock if he asks for bread?
Luke 18:33 – Jesus reveals that He must die to pay the debt my sin incurred.
Luke 18:38 – If he was told that Jesus was from Nazareth why would he call Him son of David? The son of David should be from Bethlehem! How did he know?
