Bible Reading for April 27 (ONPP)
II Samuel 1 – 4, Psalms 100
II Samuel 1:8 – Uh, dude. David just got back from slaughtering Amalekites. David did not know that Saul had fallen on his own sword and this snake is trying to gain favor of David by bringing him the crown.
II Samuel 2:26 – The call of Abner to cease hostilities is a great turn from having the young men play. He started a battle very confident but at the end he lamented about the sword devouring them forever because he was on the losing side.
II Samuel 2:26 – Not only did David not know but he showed the rest of Israel, by his mourning, that he was not a party of Abner’s death. This assured the rest of Israel that David cared for all Israel and is worthy to be King.
II Samuel 4:5 – Another descendant of Saul that David would have honored.
Psalms 100:5 – His truth endures He does not change.
