Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for April 29 (ONPP)
John 7 – 9, Psalms 102
John 7:1– This is the reason that Jesus spent so much time in the northern part of Israel. It was not His time to be put to death. Also the good news of salvation was withheld from Judea because they wanted to kill Him before the appointed time.
John 7:8 – Jesus did not say that He was not going but He was not going yet.
John 7:12 – The people were of two minds about Jesus but neither of the two described Jesus’s true nature.
John 7:17 – Jesus is saying that a person wanting to follow God’s plan will compare what they are being taught to the Word of God.
John 7:23 – If it is a holy thing to be circumcised then would not healing also be holy?
Exodus 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
John 7:25 – Were they not just asking in 7:20, “Who seeks to kill you?”
John 7:27 – They thought Jesus was from Nazareth but He was born in Bethlehem and came as a son from God.
John 7:31 – This must be the Christ. Has anyone else done so many miracles?
John 7:36 – Jesus cannot be found from an earthly point of view and if you cannot find Him you cannot find salvation or Heaven.
John 7:38 – Is Jesus describing the Holy Spirit as the water flowing from the temple of God in the New Jerusalem as described by Ezekiel in chapter 47?
John 7:42 – Jesus was, born in Bethlehem, went to Egypt, came back to Nazareth and preached throughout Galilee. They thought He was from Galilee, but they did not know from He was from Heaven.
John 8:4 – They were just calling Him a deceiver yesterday!
John 8:5 – The law commanded that both should be put to death (Leviticus 20:10; Deuteronomy 22:22), but not that they should be stoned, unless the adulteress was espoused, not married, or was a priest’s daughter, Deuteronomy 22:21. Stoning however was a standard form of execution because it was done by a large group where not one person would be responsible for the death but the whole population.
John 8:10 – Without Christ we are condemned already.
John 8:11 – With Christ there is no condemnation.
John 8:12 – Jesus gives the Pharisees a talkin to. He pretty much explains where He came from and who His Father is. It is enlightening to follow Jesus through the whole of scripture, Old & New Testaments, seeing the darkness of man’s heart when he cares not about Jehovah or His Word.
John 8:30 – By His own witness many believed on Him.
John 8:34 – Whoever practices sin is in bondage to sin. They cannot do things of righteousness, their works are their own for their own glory not for God’s glory.
John 8:43 – The real reason that people turn away from Christ. The Word is spoken but they can not hear it because of their own pride in their works.
John 8:48 – A Samaritan? They believe that Jesus was illegitimate. Ancestrally, Samaritans claim descent from the tribe of Ephraim and tribe of Manasseh. Samaritans believe that their worship, which is based on the Samaritan Pentateuch,[16] is the true religion of the ancient Israelites from before the Babylonian captivity, preserved by those who remained in the Land of Israel, as opposed to Judaism, which they see as a related but altered and amended religion, brought back by those returning from the Babylonian Captivity.
John 8:52 – They have forgotten about Enoch and Elijah!
John 9:2 – It was Adam that sinned and the whole Earth is cursed because of it.
John 9:3 – God’s plan of redemption has not changed from the beginning. His work of redemption through Christ is going to be authenticated here.
John 9:7 – Jesus gave the man a path to follow in order that he might receive sight. If he had not followed Jesus’s path but went to another source to find water he would not have received his sight. We must follow the path to salvation through Jesus because there is no other name in Heaven or on Earth in which we must be saved.
John 9:16 – Remember John 7:23 – If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath day so that the Law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry at Me because I have made a man entirely sound on the Sabbath day?
John 9:18 – The Pharisees, who went in and out of the temple daily, did not recognize the man that sat there.
John 9:27 – This is one crafty blind man!
John 9:29 – Sin blinds the Pharisees to their own words. John 7:27 and 7:52.
John 9:30 – Jesus opened the eyes of one that was blind from birth. Never had anyone done that miracle before. It must have been from God yet the leadership did not recognize it!
John 9:34 – The leaders are angry and call this man unjust names. Does this sound like any person or group that act that way today?
Psalms 102:1 – When you don’t know what to do and feel as if you are being attacked on all sides God is faithful to be available to comfort you and refresh your mind.
Psalms 102:4 – Do you feel so sad that you forget to eat or don’t feel hungry?
Psalms 102:6 – Pelicans should be near the ocean and owls should be in the forest. The psalmist feels way out of place.
Psalms 102:7 – Sparrows travel together and feed on the ground.
