Bible Reading for April 30 (ONPP)
II Samuel 9 – 12, Psalms 103
II Samuel 10:3 – These sons of rulers take power but have not observed their father’s reign. They take advice that their father’s would not heed and cause destruction upon themselves.
II Samuel 11:2 – By first thinking of his desires as more important than God’s instruction, David became neglectful in taking care of Israel which lead to covetousness, adultery and murder.
II Samuel 11:11 – Uriah is so concerned for his comrades and that a permanent place for the ark had not been established that he does not want to tempt himself with the comfort of home.
II Samuel 12:6 – So how many of David’s sons died untimely deaths? :The first son with Bathsheba, Amnon by Absalom for humbling Tamar, Absalom in the battle to take the kingdom from David, and Adonijah for presumptuously asking for Abishag the Shunammite for his wife. These four may have been in retribution of David’s order to have Uriah killed.
II Samuel 12:23 – Like David this verse is for us the evidence for the hope of our children that have died before they become old enough to understand sin and God’s provision for it.
II Samuel 12:31 – I have seen two explanations for this verse one states that David put these people into hard labor of servitude while the other states that they were brutally murdered because had put up such a long and expensive siege.
Psalms 103 – This is so directly personal from us to God praising His blessings to us.
God gives us so much every day and prepares for our next day while forgiving us for yesterday. He deserves our praise because He is God!
Psalms 103:17 – Our time on this earth is short and full of trouble. We bring some of that trouble upon ourselves and some of it finds us. But trusting in Jehovah and His propitiation for our sin is why He allows us into His heaven to enjoy the benefits eternally. His mercy does not change through time.
