Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for April 9 (ONPP)
Judges 10 – 12, Psalm 85
Judges 10:6 – Now Israel turns away from God for the sixth time and God allows another of the people that Joshua had not thrown out or annihilated to come and humble Israel in retribution.
Judges 10:13 – Turning away from God is turning away from salvation.
Judges 10:16 – Did God change His mind? No, for He will reveal in II Chronicles 7:14 “if My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Judges 11:2 – God did not ever differentiate between sons of one or another mother as far as inheritance was to be divided to with the exception of keeping a previous promise He had made to Sari. These other sons of Gilead were in the wrong to drive out Jephthah.
Judges 11:8 – Dude, you are no longer part of us you are dispensable.
Judges 11:15 – Jephthah now gives them a history lesson. And because these things have been written down by Moses they are available to be easily recalled.
Judges 11:31 – So whatever comes out of his house will be dedicated to God or given as a burnt offering. God does not accept human sacrifice. God even requires that the firstborn male child be redeemed but of animals He allows them to be killed if not redeemed. The Modern King James Version follows Young’s Literal Translation saying “or”, The Litteral Translation Version says it would be offered instead of a burnt offering but the 1611 King James Version says “and”. However in the Hebrew Old Testament it says ”
Judges 11:31 והיה היוצא אשׁר יצא מדלתי ביתי לקראתי בשׁובי בשׁלום מבני עמון והיה ליהוה והעליתהו עולה׃
” which has no conjunction at all.
Judges 11:35 – Now Jephthah does not have an heir in Israel. His only child is dedicated to God. Does this sound familiar? Jesus is the only begotten of the Father and is dedicated to be the redemptive sacrifice for the world.
Judges 11:37 – Weeping for not having any children? Her father’s land would go to his brothers that had kicked him out of his father’s house even though he would rule over them.
