Leviticus 8:2 – This is the birth of a new page in the life of Aaron and his sons.
Leviticus 8:6 – As Moses was consecrated to lead Israel when he was in the back side of the desert in front of the burning bush as so Aaron and his sons must be consecrated before acting as priests. Jesus was also consecrated being baptized by John the Baptist and recognized by God not for atonement for sin but to fulfill the scriptures.
Leviticus 9:1 – Now that the consecration week is complete Aaron and his sons must first make an offering for their sinfulness then they can act as the advocate for the people through the offerings brought to the tabernacle. This is also foreshadowing of Israel concreating their children on the eighth day and Jesus’s resurrection on the eighth day (first day of the week) after the Triumphal entry on Palm Sunday.
Leviticus 9:24 – God must have put this in Elijah’s mind in the conflict with Baal worshipers.
Leviticus 10:1 – It’s not long before false worship came into the picture. With all the consecrations, sacrifices, and design of the tabernacle God is building a picture of His plan of salvation through Christ. This picture was not to be marred with brush strokes not meant to be there.
Leviticus 10:19 – Since God had said what was not eaten should be burnt, Aaron’s mourning fast and the sin offering goat’s burning did not go against God’s command.
Psalms 38:2 – David remembers his faults and that humbles him that he is not worthy of God’s blessings. This action in his heart is what God wants us to be, humble as the tax collector was in the rear of the temple. Luke 18:10
