Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for June 18 (ONPP)
II Chronicles 22 – 24, Psalms 145
II Chronicles 22:2 – (Henry commentary) He was called Jeho–ahaz (IIChronicles 21:17); here he is called Ahaz–iah, which is the same name and of the same signification, only the words of which it is compounded are transposed. He is here said to be forty–two years old when he began to reign (II Chronicles 22:2), which could not be, for his father, his immediate predecessor, was but forty when he died, and it is said (II Kings 8:26) that he was twenty–two years old when he began to reign. Some make this forty–two to be the age of his mother Athaliah, for in the original it is, he was the son of forty–two years, that is, the son of a mother that was of that age; I see that the Logos link has shown his correct age also.
II Chronicles 23:1 – The High Priest gathers the valiant men of the kingdom and Levites that were scattered out on mission in order to restore the office of king to the line of David.
II Chronicles 23:13 – Instead of being happy for her grandson her selfish nature is angry at her loss for her position.
II Chronicles 23:16 – Now the grass roots movement to trust in God has begun. We would hope that this would go to their heart and not just actions.
II Chronicles 24:15 – This man lived longer than Moses or Aaron but not than many of the patriarchs.
II Chronicles 24:18 – Now we see why Joash’s reign was cut short as a result of self will and guidance from outside of God’s people.
Psalms 145:1 – David uses the term forever and ever knowing that there is life after this world and we choose here where we will spend it by our relationship to God.
Psalms 145:20 – How will that happen will not everyone go to heaven? NO! The people that do not honor God on Earth would not honor God in Heaven. Those people have a special place to go to where they are punished for their disobedience and separated from God. Yet while they are still on Earth they are still able to turn away from their prideful position of dishonor, to honor God and accept His redemption.
