Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for June 24 (ONPP)
Romans 7 – 9, Psalms 150
Romans 7:10 – The commandment that we cannot keep sentences us to death by us breaking it.
Romans 7:15 – I think the key is that desire is related to covetousness and sin. To do what is desired is sin and to do what the Law says is undesired but is shown by our reluctance to be righteous. So our desire to be righteous (righteous by works) is sinful but our works under the control of the Spirit are not ours but God’s. By our following His command and not our own desires, it is His righteousness that is being done not ours.
Romans 8:1 – This is the same idea that is in John 3:16–18.
Romans 8:10 – Paul has taken the roundabout way to resurrection for his Roman listeners.
Romans 8:15 – Here is the answer to the question of being born again. To be born again is a spiritual birth of adoption!
Romans 8:19 – For those that are saved we do not have to await what creation awaits, we are delivered from the bondage of sin and born into the freedom of adoption by the Lord.
Romans 8:26 – Jesus taught in the model prayer to glorify God, ask for forgiveness, and ask for sustenance to perform what He has for us today.
Romans 8:28 – Wealth, jobs, family, disease, injury, and anguish will draw us closer to God if we love Him.
Romans 8:32 – God gave up His only begotten Son to death. It is not a small thing that He did. His Son did not deserve death. To have taken on the punishment of my sinfulness which I deserved so many people do not see as worth more than our continued life. How much easier is it for God to give us material things for our daily existence than to give us His only begotten Son?
Romans 9:8 – in Galatians 4:21–23 – Paul traces the promise of a fruitful nation of descendants and redemption back to Abraham who without an heir took Hagar a slave woman to bear a child of his own works not of God’s grace. This child Ishmael is of works, was born of a slave and thus into slavery of the law. God’s plan was for Sara to have a child, Isaac, born by His grace, born of the free woman and is free from the law to live by faith. (David Light Sermon)
Romans 9:31 – The breaking of the Law cannot be mended or become unbroken but the punishment can be forgiven if the forgiveness is accepted.
