Psalms 119:27 Make me to understand the way of Your Commandments, and I will speak of Your wonderful works.
Bible Reading for June 28 (ONPP)
Romans 10 – 13, Psalms 3
Romans 10:1 – These first four verses sure apply today to many that try to achieve righteousness themselves.
Romans 10:9 – Mouth, Heart
Romans 10:10 – Heart, Mouth
Romans 11:1 – That is right, God is not through with Israel. He will bring in the Holy City and He calls it the New Jerusalem not the New Rome or New Babylon. His Revelation includes them by tribe with the exception of Dan and Ephraim.
Romans 11:7 – Seeking works is not the path to salvation but being given the faith in His Word is the plan made from the beginning.
Romans 11:8 – This is a direct result of the peoples worship of idols that cannot see or hear.
Romans 11:9 – On their table was the food that they offered to idols and their worship of these statues keeps them away from God.
Romans 11:11 – By forgetting the faith of salvation that Abraham has and relying on their own works they become jealous of others that receive their faith from God. If we, being not part of the line of Abraham, can be grafted in through adoption how much more easily can one born through that line grow from it? Yet there are many that have sprouted forth and tried to develop their own root and cut themselves off from the Holy Root not receiving the faith the root produces, also their re–grafting to the Holy Root would be much easier. Grafting is not done by the thing grafted in or the thing grafted on but by an outside hand. The branch that the graft is grafted to must first be cut off and then split to accept the graft and then both are bound together. For the graft is also cut off from the source it had and must rely on the branch for nourishment.
Romans 11:25 – Again God is not done with Israel and is preparing them for the time that God has “finished” with the nations.
Romans 12:20 – Reminds me of Elisha’s treatment of the army that came to capture him in II Kings 6.
Romans 13:3 – Even if the rulers persecute the church and demand we not evangelize the lost we can still do good works and God will draw the others to Himself by our witness. But if we are permitted to evangelize and do not have a good witness then with what will we have that God can draw others toward? We will be like the branch that tries to put down its own roots and not draw from the Holy Root.
