Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for June 3 (ONPP)
Acts 17 – 19, Psalms 132
Acts 17:5 – These Jews were not keeping the Law purposefully. They say, how can these that are not of Abraham be special to God? But God made all from the beginning. Those of Abraham were to show the others that God made all and loves all that they may turn from unbelief to salvation. These Jews were not keeping the Law purposefully. If they had kept the Law then they would love the Lord with all their heart and their neighbor as their selves.
Acts 17:6 – Turned the world upside down from works to grace. No, Paul did not do that. God had grace in His plan from the beginning. It is the lie of Satan that we could do something to become gods.
Acts 17:13 – Evil has so much hatred that it will seek out good and attempt to destroy it. It seems that that hatred is rooted in their eyes being opened to the results of their sinful rejection of God’s Word.
Acts 17:21 – The worship of knowledge.
Acts 17:25 – As if God needs anything. He made it all and has it all and He wants us to share in it with Him.
Acts 18:8 – If the learned man believes this missionary then maybe we should too. Is their faith their own or are they trying to borrow it from someone else as Israel did. Crispus must have been well studied in the scriptures to not have his pride in tradition to override the facts set before him.
Acts 18:15 – The Roman leadership in the city would not succumb to the crowd.
Acts 18:25 – This baptism of John was only for repentance for our sin, turning to obedience to the Law. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the realization and acceptance that God has made the sacrifice for our sin through His Son Jesus, the Christ.
Acts 19:19 – This book burning was of those that were those of spells and potions that made the user feel self–powerful yet were controlled by demons. So the salvation that they received was worth more than the price of the books. In fact salvation comes at a enormous price, the death of God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Acts 19:24 – The believers in the Way were getting so large in numbers that it was affecting sales of idols and revenue from worshipers of the statue Artemis.
Acts 19:25 – I wonder if they had started making crosses out of silver they could have retained their livelihood? Is it the same to worship a silver image of one thing over another?
Acts 19:32 – A mob of people, some protesting one thing and others other things making an anarchy of their gathering.
Acts 19:40 – The town clerk was afraid of the local keepers of the peace (Roman soldiers) would come out and arrest or punish them.
Psalms 132:12 – This BIG If is based on our faithfulness to God giving His provision for us.
