Psalms 119:27 Make me to understand the way of Your Commandments, and I will speak of Your wonderful works.
Bible Reading for June 30 (ONPP)
Nehemiah 5 – 7, Psalms 5
Nehemiah 5:11 – This burden of usury was not to be between Jews. This heavy burden of one percent interest was against God’s command of not charging interest to each other. It’s like sin, it’s not the amount, it’s just the presence that is detestable.
Nehemiah 5:14 – Nehemiah did not take the salary that he was entitled. He saw the people needed all that they had and would not take it away for himself. What other ruler would do such a thing as that? He wanted to be remembered as a governor whose heart wanted to do God’s will and lift up God’s people out of the bondage that the previous governors had taxed them into. Also Nehemiah fed many from his own funds.
Nehemiah 6:8 – Those that had been taking advantage of a defenseless Jerusalem are now walled out and are making up lies about Nehemiah doing what they would wish to do themselves.
Nehemiah 7:3 – Keeping the gates closed allowed the sentinels to see all was clear and quiet outside. Furthermore they were to watch from the wall near their own house which they should be more watchful for the enemy outside and spiritually on watch for sin inside their own house.
Nehemiah 7:5 Again God leaves a record of those that came back, and those that gave to honor Him.
Nehemiah 7:65 – Nehemiah is showing his faith in God’s full knowledge and awaiting His revelation of what to do with these that have claimed to be descendants of Aaron.
Psalms 5:5 – Those that ignore God are witnesses to their own condemnation.
Psalms 5:11 – Again to trust (believe) God is the gift that God gives to righteousness.
