Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for March 21 (ONPP)
Deuteronomy 22 – 24, Proverbs 12
Deuteronomy 22:5 – God does not want us to try to be something other than what we are created as. Man is to be man the representation of the covenant keeper and protector in marriage as God is the covenant keeper in His promise to Abraham and His promise to the Church. Woman is to be woman, being respectful of her husband’s leadership as to the Lord. The Lord would never ask His Church to do wrong so the Husband should never ask the wife to do wrong. The Bible does show the wife buying and selling, making deals on fabric and land, showing her respect to her husband and family. This shows us that we should, as part of the Church, be respectful of God and do what we can to provide for our Church family.
Deuteronomy 22:7 – Another parallel to not boiling a kid in its mother’s milk.
Deuteronomy 23:2– God want’s commitment from His people and marriage is a pattern of that commitment.
Deuteronomy 23:3 – Women were not allowed into the Tabernacle of meeting and even when the Temple was built there were eventually four areas. First the court of the gentiles to worship God, second the court of the women, third the temple court, and then the temple itself. So David the great grandson of Boaz was not affected by the heritage of Ruth because God is showing that the heritage of the covenant keeper, the man, is the deciding factor in heritage.
Deuteronomy 23:8 – Even if Ruth’s heritage was accounted for then David would still be in the third generation.
Deuteronomy 23:10 – God knows our frame and our hearts. He has made a provision for our limited abilities.
Deuteronomy 23:18 – God does not want the hateful lucre of these to be part of the treasury of His Holy Temple. This applies to us as believers as our bodies are to be the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Deuteronomy 23:24–25 – God does not see hunger as theft because all of creation belongs to Him. But to take away the property that He has given charge of to another is theft.
Deuteronomy 24:8 – Leprosy is an analogue to sin and is important to understand that both are contagious and deadly.
Deuteronomy 24:16 – God may bless the descendants of a righteous person to a thousand generations and curse an evil persons descendants to seven generations. We are to recognize that each individual is precious to God and each has their own place in His creation.
Deuteronomy 24:19 – God expects each of us to work for our own support if we are able.
Proverbs 12:27 – KJV – The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
