Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in Your Word; and do not let any iniquity rule over me.
Bible Reading for March 27 (ONPP)
Joshua 1 – 4, Psalms 74
Joshua 1:8 – Joshua was to meditate on God’s law day and night, so should we study it and discover His Truth to Life.
Joshua 1:17 – Already Israel is falling away from God or are they not yet committed to Him? Their failure to do all that Moses asked of them shows their future behavior. They are calling God Joshua’s God not their God.
Joshua 2:9 – This woman believes God and His plan for Israel. She has heard the account of God’s plagues in Egypt and the Crossing of the Red Sea. Israel’s most recent success east of the Jordan would be the most recent news that the city of Jericho would have received.
Joshua 2:12 – Now Rahab is shown putting her faith in God to take care of her life.
Joshua 2:18 – As the Israelites marked their door with blood in Egypt to save them from the death angel so Rahab also marked her house by faith with the scarlet rope that she let down the two spies of Israel to save her and her household from destruction. God did not look inside the marked houses but honored the mark on the outside as He will with those that are covered by the blood of Christ for salvation.
Joshua 2:24 – These men are not giving God the credit for His work and power.
Joshua 3:4 – Two thousand cubits would be about a thousand yards or about a kilometer. Israel was to have a reverence for the Ark and the distance between them gave the witness that God was able to take care of the Ark without a warrior guard and that it actually acted as a force going before the army to clear out the hazards.
Joshua 3:6 – Remember that the Ark has always had it covering on it when it is being carried. The only ones that uncover it are the priests after it is installed in the Tabernacle.
Joshua 3:16 – The river channel was dry over a span of sixteen to eighteen miles and spread out to the west toward the city Adam and east to Zartan.
Joshua 4:3 – Joshua is leaving a marker so that all who see it will know that it was here that God made a passage of them through the Jordan River. We also need to leave a marker to God’s blessings to us. I am leaving this marker, the posts and comments. Each one of us should leave markers to God’s grace and mercy to us whether it in the form of written, verbal, or built markers to our descendants and friends.
Psalms 74:13–14 – These verses seem to refer to the Exodus from Egypt where Israel crossed the Red Sea on dry ground and the Egyptian soldiers (sea–monsters) were drowned. The leviathan refers to the Pharaoh which there were several during the time of Israel’s slavery in Egypt.
