Bible Reading for May 16 (ONPP)
II Kings 4 – 6, Proverbs 20
II Kings 4:2 – As Elijah took care of a widow woman and her child with the endless pots of flour and oil Elisha does for this woman for oil in abundance.
II Kings 4:35 – This is the first time Elisha raises someone from death.
II Kings 4:42 – As Jesus fed 5,000 men with a few loaves and small fish, Elisha gets God’s blessing of food multiplication for these prophets he was with.
II Kings 5:27 – Our actions do effect the lives of our children, grandchildren, and all after them. So many times the bible records sinful actions that effect many generations, while faithfulness to God may only be passed to the generations that have that witness before them. We make the decision to be faithful to God on our own while the nature of man is against God.
II Kings 6:12 – Evidently there are Syrian spies in Israel.
II Kings 6:18 – This blindness was not of sight but of mind where they did not know where they were or to who they were talking.
II Kings 6:23 – Luke 6:27 But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.
II Kings 6:29 – How sad, mothers usually do anything to protect their children.
Proverbs 20:16 –
Proverbs 27:13 Take his robe that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge from him for a strange woman.
