Bible Reading for October 19 (ONPP)
Ezekiel 12 – 14., Psalms 100
Ezekiel 12:28 – God is telling Israel through Ezekiel that the destruction that was to come is upon them now. God had delayed the destruction to give Israel time to repent and turn back to Him. The results of the BIG IF is coming to pass.
Ezekiel 13:2–3 – Prophecy out of our own feelings is futile. The heart of man is evil from his youth. Hear the Word of the Lord to hear true prophecy.
Ezekiel 13:5 – This is not a wall against mortal enemies but a wall against the sinfulness of mankind. The teaching of God’s Word, the honoring of God’s preeminence, and the punishment to sinful actions of men produce a fortification insulating them and us from the temptation to sin.
Ezekiel 13:9 – Even though these prophets speak in God’s name they are taking that name in vain because they are speaking from their own heart and not by the Word of God. This shows us that a person can believe in God but not have God’s righteousness accounted to them. They are still lost because they do not follow God.
Ezekiel 13:10 – Untempered mortar is using lime without cooking off the oxygen. It does not form a bond that hardens the mix. So the priests were not sifting out the sinful influences of “foreign” practices that would help the people keep God’s law.
Ezekiel 13:19 – This reminds me of Esau when he gave up his birthright for a bowl of red beans.
Ezekiel 14:6 – Even though these elders had turned away from God, He gives them a chance to turn back to Him and be forgiven.
Ezekiel 14:14 – Evidently these three are highly venerated in Judah and by God. Even these three would loose everything because of the transgressions of the people yet because of their faithfulness only themselves and their soul would be saved from death and eternal punishment.
Ezekiel 14:22 – Remember the ones that were marked because they honored God and were distraught of the evilness of the people? God’s plan has not changed and He will restore Israel to fulfill it.
Psalms 100:5 – His truth endures He does not change.
