Bible Reading for September 28 (ONPP)
Jeremiah 29 – 31, Psalms 82
Jeremiah 29:7 – God said to pray for the peace of the city which you are enslaved. In this case it was an exile city of Babylon but in latter times it would be all of Israel and Jerusalem under Roman occupation.
Jeremiah 29:10 – This is the second time Jeremiah has prophesied the time of Israel’s return.
Jeremiah 29:11 – This verse is most likely pointing to Cyrus releasing the Jews to return to Israel and build the temple and restore Jerusalem. While in the book of Esther God brought about peace for the nation Israel after the decree that they were allowed to protect themselves from the decree brought about by Haman.
Jeremiah 29:32 – Again because of the stubbornness of his heart, a man has lost the fellowship of God for himself and his children forever.
Jeremiah 30:11 – God will not allow those nations where Israel is scattered to continue, but His adopted son Israel He will save, punish for their disobedience and they will live in the Promised Land. A father does not kill his son but chastens him and corrects his path so the son may be a glory to him. Just like Israel was adopted, we may also be adopted into the nation Israel, so that in the Millennial Reign of Christ haveing another nation besides Israel would be rejecting God.
Jeremiah 30:24 – In these latter days God has given us understanding in His Word but as yet His purpose is not ben fulfilled. We await the coming of the day of vengeance of Jehovah upon all who deny Him.
Jeremiah 31 – Even though Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet this word of hope should have lifted his spirit in praise.
Jeremiah 31:15 – A prophecy of the killing of the children in Bethlehem by Herod.
Jeremiah 31:22 – From the beginning, God’s purpose has not changed. He told Eve that her seed would crush the head of the serpent. Genesis 3:15 – The promise of the cure is given through the woman only. God again reinforces His plan when He told Abram that his seed would be a blessing to all families of the earth. God’s promise to the people through Jeremiah here reinforces the blessing to come and that it will come through the seed of a woman.
Jeremiah 31:31 – A New Covenant? No longer the Law but what?
Jeremiah 31:33 – God’s Law in our hearts without being taught and knowing God from birth till death if death exists then.
Jeremiah 31:36 – Even if the whole universe is wiped out, the ordnance of God still is in effect. Just because there is no light bulb the electricity will light one if it is placed in the socket attached to power.
Jeremiah 31:38 – When Israel returned from Babylon this tower was referenced in Nehemiah.
