Bible Reading for September 8 (ONPP)
Isaiah 52 – 54, Psalms 65
Isaiah 52:15 – Paul uses the second half of this verse In Romans 15:21 as an explanation of where he had been preaching the Gospel.
Isaiah 53:1–12 – This description of The Redeemer that Israel looks forward to is Jesus, rejected of men, despised because of His followers, unrecognizable after the beatings and lashings.
Isaiah 54:1–17 – If this prophecy was for the Jews at their return from captivity in Babylon then they would not be taken over. But if this prophecy is for the time of Jesus then it shows the Nation Israel was the bride having few to follow God and the Christians were the desolate woman that would be the fruitful bride of God reproducing not of heritage but of faith.
Psalms 65:1 – There are times that I have to just sit back in awe of God’s Holiness, Power, Love, and Righteousness. I just cannot find the words to express my soul to Him.
Psalms 65:5 – David realized that God is not just God for Israel but God for all, with the offer of salvation to everyone if they would accept Him and follow Him. You may ask “From what are we to be saved from?” We are to be saved from God’s wrath against those who reject Him.
